I encourage you to listen to Teachers Teaching Teachers at Ed Tech Talk. Last Wednesday and for the next two weeks (august 15 and 22 at 9PM EST) the discussion is focused on using online databases in the classroom. Specifically featured is Maine’s MARVEL as well as Florida’s FEL and New York State’s Novel. These databases are incredible resources for the classroom and appear to be under used. It’s worth reading Joyce Valenza’s post at the School Library Journal. She will be joining Susan Ettenheim and others in the chat room. If you are using the databases in your classroom or just want to learn more about them, come join in. If you would like help getting in to the chat room or to listen, let me know and I’ll be happy to help.
